Questions
What troupes and teachers ask us most.
Does my audience need an app?
No. They scan the QR code, type and send. No app and no account.
What if the wifi's bad?
Audience phones use their own mobile data, and a phone hotspot is enough for the producer.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you can send a WhatsApp, you can run a show. Most nights need Next and Draw, and the rest stays out of the way until you want it.
Who sees the suggestions before they're on screen?
Only your moderator, and you, if you choose to check each draw before it goes up. The audience sees the big screen, the performers see the scene, and the queue stays backstage.
What happens to the suggestions afterwards?
When you wrap up, the approved suggestions go into your troupe's bank, without names, so you can use them again. Nothing is shared outside your troupe.
Can I use it for workshops, not shows?
Yes. Plan a session, run it from your phone, and use Play now for warm-ups and practice.
I teach on my own. Is it for me?
Yes. Everyone gets their own space for their games and plans, and you can bring a group in when you need one.
Is it AI?
The suggestions on show night come from your audience. Play now draws from Sidewing's bank: real audience suggestions, plus many written for Sidewing, some with the help of AI before they were added. Nothing is generated live, and nothing you type is sent to an AI.
Can I bring my own games?
Yes. Add them to your library with your own notes, or keep your own version of any game in the shared library.
Do performers need an account?
Not to say whether they can make it: that's a link anyone in the troupe can answer from. Your moderator doesn't need one either.
What can we run it on?
Any phone, tablet or computer with a web browser, and any mix of them: the producer on an iPad, the host on a phone, the big screen on a laptop plugged into the projector. Nothing to install. Apps for iPhone, iPad and Android will follow.
Can we try it?
Sidewing is in early testing, so troupes join one at a time. Email hello@getsidewing.com and tell us about yours.
